Sheathing Continues.....

The garage is sheathed & they moved on to the north side of the house. Leryl says...."Thank goodness for toe kicks!" He's hoping to finish the sheathing by Friday as we're supposed to get showers Friday & Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed!

On to the Roof.....

Leryl, Greg & Jason put in the last post & finished sheathing the front porch. I like it!!! Then, they moved onto the garage roof. They sheathed the south side & Leryl is sure glad Jason is around. He's like a monkey! Leryl isn't too thrilled about being up there but.....it has to get done. We're hoping to finish the sheathing by Friday but no guarantees. I'm glad they don't expect ME to get up there!!!

Rockin' Chair Time!

We better start looking for rocking chairs for the front porch. I think we'll be spending time out there. The guys put up the porch roof trusses & sheathed it. Greg says it's his favorite part of the house. Mike left at 12:30 to go home for the weekend. A well deserved break for him. It will just be Leryl & Jason tomorrow & I think they'll be doing some catch up things so.....probably won't be doing a blog for a few days. It's a tall sucker. Wish we would have worked on lowering the roof line. Oh well. Hind sight......right! Have a good weekend everyone!

Down to the Little Ones.....

I'm back!!! Not a whole lot happened while I was gone over the weekend......it decided to rain off & on! It was sunny today so the boys were back out there. They have all the big trusses in place & now have to put up the little ones. The last picture shows the boys trying to figure out the coupling that connects the house to the septic. Leryl is talking with the plumber. They figured it out & we're connected. The girls like to be where the boys are.

The Trusses Arrived!

So.....the trusses arrived this morning & it took awhile to figure out how to off load them & where to put them. But....they got it done & we now have trusses over the garage & the living room. The boys tell me they did the easy ones first & they'll start the harder ones tomorrow. I'm going to be gone for a few days & I doubt that Leryl will post so.....it will probably be Monday before I do another one. Hopefully, all the trusses will be in place!

Workin' on the Stairs............

Three steps & the landing are done! The landing is higher than I had thought but....that's ok. Leryl spent some time putting in drain pipe & rock around the front of the house. Mike & Megan are relaxing at the end of the day. It was a hot one today.

Upstairs Exterior.......DONE!!!

The great room beam I forgot to post yesterday. Mike crawling around on the upstairs wall between the sitting room & second bedroom. And then we have......The Man Cave!!! Bigger than I thought it would be. All the better to hold the dead animals!!!
Lady Bug lying in the dirt.....her favorite place to hang out.

We Have Upstairs Walls!

OK, Bob......just for you.....here are the upstairs pictures as of 2:00 today. The top shot is the front of the house facing south. Bedroom on the left, sitting area in the middle, bedroom on the right. The front porch roof will start right below the upstairs windows. Not sure how much longer they'll be out there. It's pretty warm up there on the deck. I forgot to take a picture of the second beam they put in place. I'll do that next time. Lovin' this weather for what we're doing.

We Have an Upstairs Floor!!!

The boys were busy today!!! We have an upstairs floor!!! They cut, glued, pounded & nailed all day long. After being up there I'm thinking we should have had some windows to the north. Oh well. The walls for the front porch were poured Tuesday & Gary came back today to knock off the forms. Leryl will back fill this weekend. The weather is still perfect & we're lovin' it!!! I think the boys have accomplished a lot in less than 2 weeks. They're quite a team & we're really lucky that Leryl's sister, Marilyn is letting Mike do this for us. We owe her big time!!!

"The Girls".....

Trying to get the girls to stay for a picture.

Good job, Ladies! The windows above the French doors are framed in.

Aaaaahhhhh! Nothin' like a cold one at the end of the day!

Putting stuff away for the night.

End of the Day.....

Showered, fed & ready for bed!

The front of the house at sunset. They added rim joists and started laying the TJIs for the upstairs.

This is the entry. Had to make a change on the stairway. Thought part of it would be open but it's not going to work so.......we'll have a full wall. Not crazy about it but if this is the biggest issue we have, I'll be pleased.

Old Green to the Rescue.....Again!

What would we do without Old Green? Today, they used her to put the main beam in place. Leryl drove her through the French door opening in the great room. He picked up the beam with the forks, lifted it up and set it in place. Greg, the contractor and his son, Jason were here today to help. Jason used a wall jack to get it right where they wanted it. Pretty cool!

Making Progress

Sorry.....no pictures this time. I've tried to take some of the interior walls but they just turn out looking like nothing. The entire downstairs exterior & interior walls are up! Leryl & Mike put the top plates on the walls today. They're going to start putting up the upstairs exterior walls tomorrow. I should be able to post pictures when they get something put up. The weather continues to be absolutely perfect, which we're thankful for. Everything is going well & we hope it continues! Have a good week, everyone!

2x4s Galore!!!

We have a jungle of 2x4s!!! It's hard to take pictures that make any sense. The top picture is the kitchen area with the door opening being the pantry. To the right is the den and the left is the powder room. Notice how clean the floor is.....that's my job!!!

This is the door way into the den....it's just to the right after you come in the front door.

And this is the north facing side of the house with the two bay windows. They're going through the stacks of lumber. More interior walls tomorrow.
