Just About Got It....

Allan is down to the front porch roof! We really lucked out with the weather. He says these have been perfect days for him....not too hot, not too cold, no rain. We feel a whole lot better knowing we're "tight". Leryl is still stapling up the aluminum sheets. His new stapler arrived so that has made the process go faster. The upstairs windows need to be popped in. They've been accessing the roof through the openings. I think Leryl & Mike will start the electrical stuff when Mike gets back. Now, we get to decide where all the switches & plugs go. Thanks for checking us out.

Upstairs Heat!

Mike went home for a few days so Leryl was on his own today. He worked on the upstairs radiant heat. Mike & Leryl strung all the tubing & Leryl worked on stapling the aluminum plates. He has a special stapler ordered that will make it go a lot faster but it hasn't arrived. Mike made a neat little guide to hold the tubing up & space it. It fits between the floor joists & it works really well. Nice invention, Mike! It shows up well in the first picture. Allan, the roofer, is just about done so we're in good shape! Woo~hoo!!!

Alan, the roofer, hard at work. He called yesterday and said
he had been sick but that he should be able to stay on our job
from here on out. I'll be gone until Monday......off to the Napa
Valley for Therin's wedding. Jennifer, Marilyn, Andrea & I
plan to do some wine tasting............could be trouble. Hope you
all have a good weekend!

3 More!!!

We liked the roof hip on the garage and above the windows in the great room so well.....Mike & Leryl tore off the little triangles on the gables on the front side and added 3 more roof hips!!! The roofer has the garage done and part of the south side. He was supposed to come back today but.....he didn't make it. Hopefully tomorrow. Ordered siding and exterior window trim today. It will come tomorrow so Greg & Jason will get going on that real soon. Weather is looking great for the next 7~10 days. Woo~hoo!!!

A Change.....

Our maple tree tells us it's fall!!!
Well, we altered the plans a bit today. The original plan had a vaulted ceiling in the great room with the windows above the French door being arched. We made the ceiling flat which changed the windows to rectangles. Mike suggested adding a little roof hip below the gable like we have above the garage door. We said "go for it" and we think it worked! The gable was a little over powering with it. Good idea, Mike!

More Windows!!!

The bay window is in the eating nook! The laundry room window is to the left in the bay picture. Mike & Jason are working on one of the garage windows. They finished the overhang on the garage. Still waiting for the roofer to come back. Maybe tomorrow! Hope you're enjoying our progress.

"The Supervisor"

The Supervisor checking on what happened without him today. Mike & Greg put some of the windows in. Leryl did a pretty good job of staying off his leg. No pain, so that's good. We'll see how he does tomorrow. :)

Houston.....We Have a Problem!

Well, our first big glitch. I returned home at 4:10 today. Mike met me and said I needed to take Leryl to the doctor. Long story short.....he was helping the roofer move shingle bundles. He reached for a bundle & heard & felt a "pop". I took him to ER. The doc said the head of the calf muscle most likely popped off. He needs to keep the leg elevated above his heart, ice the calf, use crutches & take an inflammatory med. We call the orthopedic doc tomorrow to make an appointment for 5~7 days. So....I guess he's in a supervisory position for a few days.

Meanwhile, the 3 dormers are in & I'm told they were BEARS to construct. I think it's a good thing I was gone. The shingles are on the roof & the windows are delivered. Lots to do!!!

Gone for a Week

The boys couldn't work yesterday because we had some good wind. They decided it wouldn't be very smart to be up on an 8/12 pitched roof wrestling 4x8 sheets of OSB in 30~40 mile an hour winds. So.....they went to town, picked up the new gun safe then came home and added more dirt and bentonite to the pond. I'm leaving today for my annual beach trip with my high school buddies and I won't be back until Tuesday. The boys tell me they won't be doing any blogging in my absence so.....check back next week. Thanks for taking time to check out our progress. :)

A Busy Day...

The gable on the north side is sheathed and the overhangs above the bays are done. That was time consuming! Fascia boards are up, too. Lots of measuring & cutting. And see Marilyn.....Mike really is working over here!!!

On to the South Side.....

The north side was finished today. I came home from getting my haircut & asked how things went......I was told not to ask. So....I guess there were some problems getting everything to fit together. They started on the south side right before quitting time & they'll work there tomorrow.....if it doesn't rain. We've been so lucky but I think we're going to get wet over the next couple of days. Not much we can do.
