New activity........

Today resurrected a long lost activity for the Browns.........lawn mowing!!! Yup! His grass is up enough & filled in enough to mow. It's a little tender but it's coming. Pretty satisfying!!! Have a good Sunday.

Filling in..........

The grass is filling in nicely. Leryl is getting anxious to mow. We're really pleased with the plants on the right side of the porch but not so sure about the left side. We need to see what they do next year before we make any changes. The coryoptis on the right have really taken off. The bees love their flowers.

It's Green.............

Well.....it's a little bit green! If you look closely, you can see Leryl enjoying the fruits of his labor.
And thank you, Bill...........it is an accomplishment!!

Finally..............

OK......it may not be exciting to you but......it sure is to us!!! The grass is planted & the sprinklers are coming on for 5 minutes every 2 hours. The pink tape is up & Bugs knows to stay off so, all is good.

Mystery solved...............

So........something got into the garden & absolutely destroyed one of our loaded plum trees. Leryl was not happy so he set leg hold traps around the tree & around the gate. This morning the culprit was caught! Just as he suspected........a nasty old porcupine. The Glock worked well & Leryl is, once again, a happy camper. He's resetting the traps just in case there's a buddy hanging around.

It's done!!!

We have a sprinkler system!!! The standing picture shows Leryl after he finished digging the last line. I also took pictures of him putting in the last of the 1,020 feet of pipe & hooking up the last of the 56 sprinkler heads. A big job out of the way & tomorrow we plant grass!!! Woo~hoo!

It's full..........

We worked on filling the pool & laying rock around the top edge. Planted a few little ferns we had. The waterfall sounds good. The rocks around the pool came from the foundation of the old house that was on the property. We piled them up knowing we'd have a use for them. Lots of flat ones so good for the edge of the pool. We're getting there. Thanks for checking.

Over the edge..................

The first picture is for Bill.......he likes the "nuts & bolts" stuff. The tank holds fertilizer that is injected into the sprinkler system. Leryl rigged it so it would not fertilize the shrub beds.....just the lawn. This was new to him & he's pretty excited about it. The other pictures show the edging we laid to keep the grass from creeping into the round rock. Two more sprinkler lines in back, round rock in the bottom of the pool, rock around the edge of the pool & we're ready for grass! Might be green when the kids come. I'll post pool pictures next time.

Diggin'..............

Not a very exciting post but at least it shows progress. Leryl has been doing lots of hand digging. He's waiting on parts to finish the pool below our bedroom window so he started laying sprinkler lines & getting the valve boxes in. Like I said, not very exciting but hopefully better than nothing.

Little by little.............

Bottom picture shows the shrubs we found in Moscow yesterday. They're a caryopteris that will get fragrant blue flowers. They were new to us. Leryl added penstemons that we picked up in Oregon to the front. The top picture is to the left of the porch step. These have some growing to do. Might have to replace them but we're going to try them. Picked these up in Oregon, as well. Emerald gaiety euonymus & the purple ones are a type of weigela. Keep your fingers crossed that it all grows!!!

LIttle Rocks.............

So.....we're getting started on the landscaping! We added grasses & round rock to the front bed. We have more to go but you get the idea. The bottom picture is Leryl enjoying a little time in the wine barrel chairs Jennifer, Ryan & Andrea gave me. We love them! Stay tuned......we're making progress & hopefully, it won't be 2 month until my next post. We're getting close on the sprinkler system & grass. It will be SO nice to be without dirt!!! I can't wait! We've had 2 sets of company, Brysons & the girls from Scappoose. They all said "NO" to the rail. So....we're probably going to save ourselves some money & go without. Greg has said that from the get go so now I'll have to admit to him that he's right!!! Thanks for checking.

Rocks!!!

We took delivery on 7 ton of rock today. The majority will be used to finish the rock retaining wall Leryl is building in the front of the house. We placed 7 big rocks in the front of the garage with the help of "Big Green". The "Fudd Drive" sign was compliments of Jennifer for Leryl's 60th birthday! He likes it!

We Have a Walkway!!!

So.....today I played pack mule for Leryl. I carried him the pavers & he laid them. He's down to the ones he has to cut to make fit. We liked the way it turned out & it's nice to see something besides dirt! He'll have to rent the compactor again so we can't walk on it yet but.......soon!!! Pretty soon we'll be on to sprinklers & grass! Will the "fun" never end???

We're BBAACCKK!!!

It's been so long since I've posted I had to think about how to do this. I don't know if anyone is checking but I'm posting anyway. We now have a paver patio!!! Woo~hoo! The walkway in the front was started but the guys ran out of pavers. There was obviously a miscalculation. So.....we're on the hunt for more pavers & hopefully, by the weekend the walkway will be done! Next comes a sprinkler system & GRASS!!!
